Webhook data handling

Hookmetry stores request and diagnostic data so users can inspect, troubleshoot, share, and replay captured webhooks. Review the data categories before connecting a production sender.

Data processed for a captured event

  • Request method, receive time, source IP, headers, query parameters, and body.
  • Endpoint and account association.
  • Signature-validation status and diagnostic information.
  • Replay and destination results when those actions are used.
  • Share-link state when a debug session is shared.

How the data is used

  • Display and search webhook logs.
  • Diagnose delivery, parsing, and validation failures.
  • Replay a stored request to a user-selected target.
  • Generate account-level observability metrics.
  • Provide a selected event through an active public share link.

Data minimization

  1. Use provider test modes and synthetic payloads during development.
  2. Exclude credentials and unrelated personal data from custom test events.
  3. Use separate endpoints when workflows have different retention or access requirements.
  4. Delete or revoke shared access when the investigation ends.
